Early Awakenings…
Jennifer Kerr-Marsch was one of those artful souls who took a bit of journeying to get to clay and design as the art form for her. She seemed to always dabble in something: photography, printmaking, fiber, silversmith, clay. After graduating from University of Florida she formed her company Mosquito Mud Pottery, llc and produced functional pottery sold at art shows around the country and in over 80 shops and galleries.
Jennifer’s pottery business was started in a two car garage a half block from the beach. Summer time lunch breaks were spent in the waves. After becoming a mother of two she moved to wholesaling her work and is represented by over 80 galleries around the country as well as opening her own American Hand Craft Gallery in the Historic District of New Smyrna Beach for 2004-2008.
While on the road in 2005 in Chicago she met another clay artist and her daughter who told her how to make tile. Soon after she took a workshop in Architectural Ceramic Sculpture. A love of tile has never left her. She began designing and installing large architectural pieces as well as tile for residential and commercial use. Her tile is represented in showrooms around the southeast.
There has always been an affinity within the art a natural transition to architecture and Interior Design so Jenifer returned to school and attained a degree to add to her skill level of design. Not only has she developed the lines of pottery and tile, she is now developing textile designs, wall coverings, and furniture for a showroom in New Smyrna and in the future to take to market.
Living on the East Coast of Florida and a block from the Intracoastal Waterway she is ever inspired by her surroundings and her family.
